We are excited to introduce our new Puppetry Track! If you’re already into puppetry, then we’re sure you’ll love this new addition to our already fantastic fan tracks. If you don’t know much about puppetry or think it’s just for kids you would be selling yourself short by missing out on this incredible new track. Acting: We are pleased to offer a unique acting workshop over a two day period by acclaimed actress, director, and author Amber Benson. If you are interested in a career in acting either on the stage or screen or just want to polish up your professional skills, here is your chance to gain insights and learn tips from the successful, talented, and knowledgeable Amber Benson.

Artists: Dragon*Con is pleased to offer a series of workshops over a two day period by acclaimed artist and illustrator, David A. Cherry. Whether your interest is traditional, digital, illustration, or game art, one or more of these workshops will be for you.

Astronomy: We are also proud to offer a two-day workshop focused on astronomy, physics, and other space sciences and how to present these topics to general audiences. The workshop is designed for writers and editors of science fiction, as well as other interested parties. The workshop will be directed by Mike Brotherton, an astronomy professor specializing in quasars, a hard science fiction novelist (Star Dragon, Spider Star), and founder of the Launchpad Astronomy Workshop for Writers.

Dragon*Con Has a Professional Photographer for the Fans!

Located in the Marriott Marquis, Ninh T. Chau, owner of Imagez Photography will have an assortment of sci-fi/fantasy themed backgrounds for you and your friends to take your commem-orative photograph against. Using the same technology as the movie industry for "green screening," backgrounds are only limited by your imagination. Expect to see sci-fi, movies, comics, gaming, steampunk, and more. In addition to the Green Screen set, we will also have a wall-size 3-D Dragon*Con logo.

FUZE at the Masquerade

The Dragon*Con Masquerade Costume Contest dates back nearly five decades in Sci-Fi fandom and is the largest costume contest in the Southeast and one of the largest in the world!

This year FUZE is sponsoring a new aspect of the contest. If your costume is a “fusion” of two or more cultures then you qualify for the FUZE portion of the contest. An example of a qualifying costume would be a stormtrooper decked out as Elvis, a Klingon posing as Superman, Harry Potter morphed into a Zombie, etc.

The winner of the FUZE aspect of the contest will win an iPad 2!

So come to the Masquerade decked out in your best FUZED costume!

This year Dragon*Con has a wide variety of spectacular workshops designed to offer something for everyone! If you are stressed out Erin Gray can teach you how to relax with tai chi. If a ghost is keeping you up at night and the Ghost Busters are out of your price range, Benjamin Radford can show you how to investigate those pushy phantasms the scientific way. If that manuscript has been sitting on the shelf gathering dust because you are just not sure it is ready to publish then Jody Lynn Nye, A.C. Crispin, Michael Stackpole, or Aaron Alston may be able to help. If you want to learn an alternate form of fitness or perfect your budding belly dancing skills, Phoenicia can help. The last day Dragon*Con will process membership transfers will be Aug 3rd. Anyone wanting to transfer membership must do so through the Dragon*Con Office. We will not be processing membership transfers at the show. Note: There will be a $20.00 fee per transfer and memberships cannot be transferred forward to the following year.

Four Days of Dragon*Con Goes National!

You wanted to see Four Days at Dragon*Con go national? Well you did it! Because of your efforts, the acclaimed documentary is now going to be broadcast around the U.S.!

Right now, Four Days at Dragon*Con will air in twelve states but this is just the beginning! More stations will add dates in upcoming weeks, so be sure to keep an eye on the broadcast schedule link below.
